Grapestone

Grapestone is truly one of the west coast’s gifts from the sea. This is by far our favorite seaweed to cook with.

Grapestone’s is an emerging culinary secret and its subtle umami infused flavors are not to be forgotten. It could be described as an oceanic version of the offspring of bacon and an almond. We like to flash fry grapestone (which immediately tenderizes and crisps the leaves) and mix it in with mashed potatoes, stir fry or any dish that needs a boost of salty savoriness.

It is a relatively undiscovered food in California. It is a close relative of Dulse and Irish Moss which have been used in Carribean and Irish cuisines extensively for centuries.
